Career expo prepares matrics for the next level

Learners in matric are invited to a career expo which will be conducted in various schools around Kathorus between July 19 and August 4.

Active Edge Capital Partners (AE Capital) encourages Grade 12 learners around Kathorus to participate in the It’sMyFuture (IMF) project, which hopes to help learners prepare for the next step of their academic careers through a career expo.

AE Capital has embarked on a school career expo tour in the Kathorus area. It began on June 2 when they visited Alafang Secondary School at Tshongweni section, Katlehong, before school recess.

The project will resume on July 19 after the second term recess starting with two schools at Thuto Pele at Khumalo Valley and Sijabulile secondary schools.

Buhlebuzile and Thabo Ntsako Secondary School learners will also get an opportunity to attend at Buhlebuzile, located at 10762 Morubisi Street, Thokoza, on July 21.

Grade 12 learners receive information from various stalls during the It’sMyFuture project career day event.

This will be followed by Palmridge Secondary School on July 28, while Eden Park and Greenfield Secondary will get an opportunity to attend on August 4, at 35 Ferrari Street, Eden Park.

The event will begin at 09:00 to 13:00 at all schools.

According to IMF project coordinator Siphiwe James Mngomezulu, the project intends to bridge the gap by bringing education to learners and seeking financial assistance to fund their studies.

IMF has partnered with various stakeholders that will present vast career options to learners and assist them to make decisions that are best suited for them.

These include tertiary institutions and organisations like the University of Johannesburg, Tshwane University of Technology, UNISA, Boston, Rosebank College, Damelin, Richfield, E-learning, The Finishing College, Saimet, Saist, African Bank, Access Bank, Nedbank, Standard Bank, NYDA, Siyafunda, Global Application Office, Regent, Stadio, Rand College, Department of Labour, Kids learning, Old Mutual, CTU, City Varsity college and IEC.

Active Edge Capital Partners held a career expo at Alafang Secondary School on June 2.

Mngomezulu said it is vital for learners to attend the event because education is important and every locked door is opened by it.

“Many of our young people lack information, we want them to access information and share it with others. We are taking small steps to build a better society,” said Mngomezulu.
