In Pictures: Vosloorus honours the memory of Thelle Mogoerane

Mogoerane climbed 52 steps to the Pretoria Gallows where he was hanged to death by the racist apartheid government.

The Vosloorus township commemorated the 40th anniversary of the death of struggle hero and former Umkhonto we Sizwe soldier Thelle Simon Mogoerane (also known as by his code name Seiso Moletsane), at Thelle Mogoerane Hospital, on June 9.

Mogoerane was hanged at Pretoria Central Prison on June 9, 1983, for fighting against the apartheid government.

He was a part of the Moroka Three and was hanged alongside Jerry Semano Mosolodi and Marcus Thabo Motaung, and buried at Mamelodi Cemetery.

The Moroka Three were part of the G5 unit under the Umkhonto we Sizwe, an ANC military wing which was founded by Nelson Mandela to fight against the apartheid government.
