Spruitview senior citizens group presents new leadership

The formal elections were held on September 27, 2022, before closing off with a yearend trip to Montecasino in Fourways, Johannesburg.

Pull Together Senior Citizen Club (PTSCC) from Spruitview has elected new committee members for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the club’s constitution, the sitting committee is dissolved after a three-year cycle and a new committee is elected.

The new leaders of the group are chairperson Yvonne Makhubela, deputy chairperson Matsidiso Makhoba, treasurer Thandi Thabethe and secretary Siphiwe Kunene.

Two additional members were elected. They are Deli Mogari and Nthadiseng Moreletse.

The group have to re-elect the deputy secretary after retired health worker Mamokgethi Senona was recalled by the Department of Health to assist them.

The elections were held on September 27, 2022, before closing off with a year-end trip to Montecasino in Fourways, Johannesburg.

The official handover was conducted on February 7. According to Kunene, the new executive committee has already created a WhatsApp group to focus on their tasks.

Makhoba is a former principal of Alafang Secondary School. She has been a member of the club since 2017.

She expressed gratitude for her election citing that she is grateful for the opportunity to lead the club.

Kunene said she welcomed the election results with excitement and that she is ready for the challenge.

β€œIt going to keep me active and young. It will push me to use my brain.”

She joined the club three years ago before the Covid-19 pandemic.

β€œI got interested because it is an active group and it is well established. It was doing things in a very formal manner that could challenge you as a professional person.

The club tasks senior citizens to keep healthy, stay active and live a happy life.
