Mmino Wa Clap N Tap awards nominations open

“Each winner gets a trophy and money amounting to R5 000 for all categories, and R10 000 for finest choir or album and finest song.”

Mmino Wa Clap N Tap (MWCNT) is inviting artists to apply for the eighth MWCNT Awards expected to be held at Mduduzi Masilela Theatre, Germiston, on October 1.

According to the chairperson of MWCNT, Moses Gama, nomination form submission and SMS line will be open on the morning of August 15 and close on September 4.

He said fans will be charged R2 for each voting SMS.

“The process will use the completion of the nomination form and the SMS line 40439, the code will be MWCNTA, space, category and the name of choir or candidate to 40439. For example MWCNTA School Mapetla High to 40439,” Gama explained.

Who can enter?

MWCNT awards are open to all CNT recording companies, CNT choirs, producers, engineers, composers and promoters who are citizens of South Africa.

The category for Finest of Southern Africa CNT is open to all recording companies and choirs from the Southern African continent.

Only the work that has been released in the past 48 months will be considered.

The finest CNT anthem or sing-along of all time, category entry should be an original South African song which has been released five or more years ago counting from the current awards year and the entrant must have been a composer and author.

After the closing dates of the entries, the process will be implemented to ensure that all the entries are placed in the correct or most appropriate category.

• Finest female vocalist of the year

• Finest emerging choir of the year

• Finest CNT TV programme of the year

• Finest CNT anthem or sing-along song of the year

• Finest positive image of the year

• Finest video of the year

• Finest CNT radio station programme of the year

• Finest choir/album of the year

• Finest most improved of the year

• Finest manager of the year

• Finest male vocalist of the year

• Finest conductor of the year

• Finest song of the year.

• Finest collaboration of the year

Gama explained that the entry fee for two specific categories including finest choir or album of the year and finest CNT song of the year is R 1 200 each, inclusive of VAT, while the entry fee for all other categories (unless specified) is R750 inclusive of VAT.

The winner will walk away with R5 000, he explained.

“Entry fees will not be refunded for disqualified entries. Each winner gets a trophy and money amounting to R5 000 for all categories, and R10 000 for finest choir or album and finest song.”

Music lovers can secure a seat for the eighth MWCNT awards at a cost of R250 per ticket.

The event will start with the red carpet from 16:00 to 17:00 and the main ceremony will commence from 17:00 to 20:00 at Mduduzi Masilela Theatre, Germiston, on October 1.
