Thirteen arrested in Zonkizizwe during police operation

The suspects were arrested for crimes such as assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm, malicious damage to property and armed robbery.

Ekurhuleni District Police arrested 13 suspects for various crimes during Operation Okae Molao in and around the Zonkizizwe SAPS policing precinct, between November 30 and December 1.

According to Zonkizizwe SAPS media liaison officer Warrant Officer Rufus Tema, the operation was executed by detectives through suspect tracing and managed to arrest six suspects.

He said the suspects were arrested for crimes such as assault to cause grievous bodily harm, malicious damage to property and armed robbery.

Dagga and money believed to be proceeds of distributing dagga were seized by police during Operation Okae Molao at Zonkizizwe.

Tema said the operation continued on Thursday led by Brigadier Lebohang Machakela, where police roadblocks, stop and searches for drugs, liquor and second-hand goods non-compliance duties were performed and intense police visibility maintained.

“Seven suspects were nabbed for dealing in liquor without a license, dealing in dagga and illegal immigrants,” said Tema.

“Further successes were of fines to the accumulated value of R5 200 from traffic offences. Over 1 000 people and almost 400 vehicles were searched.”
