Ekurhuleni Licensing Department introduces online services

In the new system customers no longer need to wait in long queues, but there is an online alternative that is convenient for them.

The Ekurhuleni Licensing Department has designed an effective online system for an easier and more efficient process for the convenience of customers.

Now customers no longer need to wait in long queues but can easily access the website to register and activate their profile via an email link or SMS and log in.

“Pensioners also do not have to book for the renewal of their driver’s licenses. However, they can go to any City of Ekurhuleni testing centre on a Wednesday where they are prioritised. Students can make bookings for Saturdays so it doesn’t affect their school attendance,” explained EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa.

Customers are advised to use licensing drive-through facilities for fast renewal times.

Thepa said all they need is their SMS, renewal notice or green form with a certified copy of their driver’s license or identification card.

“This speedy service takes about 15 minutes or less. The licensing drive-through facilities are in Springs, Kwa-Thema, Thembisa and Bedfordview.

There are also satellite facilities where one can obtain their learner’s license, which are situated in Etwatwa and Tsakane. Opening hours are from 08:00 to 15:00,” she said.
