Fidelity’s swift action leads to successful kidnap victim rescue

Collaborative efforts between Fidelity, SAPS, and CPF Mondeor lead to the safe recovery of a kidnapping victim on September 9.

Fidelity played a pivotal role in the successful rescue of a kidnapping victim on September 9 in Kibler Park.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the growing threat of syndicate-driven kidnappings in the region.

The harrowing ordeal began around 20:30 when four armed suspects forcibly abducted the victim. Following the abduction, the criminals strategically abandoned the victim’s vehicle to evade detection.

Charnel Hattingh, group head of marketing and communications for Fidelity, recounted: “The SAPS reached out to us for assistance in locating the victim.”

Without hesitation, the Fidelity team, including the branch manager, supervisor and the highly trained Fidelity Strike Unit, joined forces with SAPS and Mondeor CPF.

They initiated a thorough search operation to locate the victim. Leveraging their technological capabilities, Fidelity’s experts tracked the victim’s electronic trail, leading them to Katlehong.

In a fortunate turn of events, the victim was found shaken but physically unharmed, thanks to the efforts of Fidelity and the dedicated law enforcement agencies.

In light of this incident, Fidelity is urging the public to remain vigilant and take critical safety precautions to safeguard their loved ones.

Safety tips:

1. Share information: Ensure that family members are well-versed in login details for phones, email accounts and tracking apps. This information can be instrumental in swiftly locating a missing person.

2. Stay connected: Keep a close eye on the whereabouts of family members, particularly in high-risk areas. Employ location-sharing features like WhatsApp’s live location and consider services like e-block watch linked to Fidelity control rooms for added security.

3. Vehicle safety: Familiarise yourself with your partner’s vehicle registration number and the affiliated tracking companies. This knowledge can expedite response times during emergencies.

4. Report to SAPS: If you suspect a loved one has been kidnapped or is missing, do not wait for the 24-hour mark. Contact the SAPS immediately to trigger a prompt and coordinated response.
