Gauteng Formula Libre racers take on Formula Libre Western Cape

Gauteng Formula Libre racers recently hit the track when they took on the Formula Libre Western Cape crew.

It was a clash of the speed demons as the Gauteng Formula Libre racers bravely faced off against the Formula Libre Western Cape crew at the chilly Killarney International Race Track in Cape Town.

Brackenhurst’s Bruce van Niekerk embraced the Cape winter weather, despite the rain “playing peek-a-boo’ on the forecast.

Van Niekerk said the wet track got the best of many drivers, resulting in some hilarious spinouts.

“Most cars were unscathed, except for our young speedster, Tjaden Tromp, who had a wet-and-wild encounter with the wall on the Porsche straight. Fortunately, Tjaden’s car might need some TLC, but he walked away like a champ. Kudos to the safety and strength of these racing machines,” he explained.

As for Van Niekerk and Team Omega ‘91, they tore through the wet chaos to secure a commendable fifth position in Class C.

He said it was a close call, but the Western Cape team snatched the overall victory.

“But fear not, fellow speed enthusiasts. We are already planning a rematch next year, and this time we will be rolling out the red carpet to invite our Western Cape friends to visit us up north. A big shout-out to our heroes, Liqui Moly and N&W Transport. We owe you one, Liqui Moly and N&W Transport,” he said.

The trucking company jumped in to save the day, transporting most of their race cars to Cape Town and back again, making the epic face-off possible.
