Don’t support illegal animal sales – SPCA

The SPCA advises the public to stop supporting people who sell puppies on the side of the road because this is becoming an ongoing problem.

JSPCA collaborated with National Council of SPCAs (NPSCA) to try to put a stop to puppies being sold on the side of the road.

According to JSPCA PRO Liana Marx, puppies being sold on the side of the road is an ongoing issue.

“We try to put a stop to it, but the more we remove the puppies, the more these guys get pups from who knows where to sell to motorists.

“Not only is it inhumane to leave these poor animals dangling in the hot sun with no food, water, or shade. These people don’t care about the animals’ well-being; it’s all in the name of a quick buck.

“The three puppies were rescued by senior inspector Diale Ratsela from the perpetrators on the R82, close to Kibler Park, before they ran into oncoming traffic. One of the puppies was only three weeks old when it was severely underweight and weak,” said Marx.

Marx advises locals to stop aiding these individuals because the more they sell, the more they receive in return.
