Property valuation roll is out for public comment
If you disagree with your property valuation you can fill in an appeal form available online or at your nearest customer care centre.
The City of Ekurhuleni’s supplementary property valuation roll is out for public comment, and residents have until July 31 to object if they are not in agreement with the evaluation.
The city is legislated by the Local Government: Municipal Property Rates Act 6 of 2004 to make provision for fair and equitable valuation methods of properties and is on course to finalise the valuation process for the 2021-2025 property valuation roll.
Property owners are encouraged to view the supplementary property valuation roll on the city’s website to analyse how their properties are evaluated.
“Residents who are unsure of the value of their properties, can approach certified private valuers or area specialist estate agents to ensure that objections are lodged with proper market evidence,” explained the metro’s spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.
If the property has been valued incorrectly, residents are welcome to visit their nearest customer care centre for assistance. Forms for appealing purposes are available at the CCC or alternatively, they can be downloaded from the city’s website.
“The public must seize the opportunity and stick to the timelines so that we do not have problems with late submissions,” Dlamini concludes.
