Local radio station continues with Vala iPothole Campaign

The goal of the campaign is to promote the importance of taking charge of developing the changes that locals want to see.

Kasie FM and stakeholders including Isolomzi Place, Precious Funerals and taxi associations have initiated the Vala iPothole Campaign to patch various potholes around Kathorus.

They visited Khumalo Street and Hospital Road, Katlehong, on March 22 to continue with the campaign, following up on the first repairs conducted at Eden Park.

According to Kasie FM’s head of news, Lungani Mhlongo, they want to take charge by implementing changes that the community wants to see. They are hoping to restore Ekurhuleni to its former glory rather than allowing conditions to deteriorate.

“This is a long-term pothole repair drive, not a quick fix. Residents are encouraged to join us by expanding or rolling out the campaign in their communities. We must keep our environment clean, safe and habitable,” said Mhlongo.

He said the campaign started a few weeks ago when they took the pothole repair task into their own hands.

“We have patched various holes at the Eden Park four-way stop and are expanding to other areas in Kathorus that are severely impacted by potholes.

“We are doing this project with the assistance of our partners and community members who are volunteering their services and donations.”
