WAKO Kickboxing African Championship makes history in Ekurhuleni

The World Combat Sports Games will start on Friday.

Ekurhuleni city manager Dr Imogen Mashazi will be the guest of honour at the opening ceremony of the Olympic-recognised World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO) Kickboxing African Championship, which will be hosted for the first time on South African soil when it takes place at the John Barrable Hall in Benoni on August 26.

The kickboxing championship, which is combined with selections of the World Combat Sports Games, will kick start on Friday and run until Sunday.

The internationally acclaimed event will host global athletes from South Africa, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria, Sudan, Senegal, Angola, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea and Algeria.
