Chris Hani Cashbuild donates 15K worth building materials to schools

Learners were thrilled to compete in dance, poetry and singing competitions.

At least eight local primary schools are thrilled to each receive R15 000 worth of building material to assist refurbish their respective schools during Cashbuild’s renovation event held at Chris Hani Mall, Vosloorus, on August 11.

According to Chris Hani Cashbuild manager Sobi Moropoli, every six years when they renovate the store they also invite eight primary schools to donate material.

He said for the school to qualify they have to honour the event.

“The children draw pictures of anything regarding Cashbuild, either the building itself or building material. We get 20 pictures from every school and every school is a guaranteed winner. The pictures will be displayed on the TV screen at the shop for the next six years,” said Moropoli.

The schools that took part include Mthimkhulu, Fortune Kunene, Zimele, Ndlelenhle, Khayelihle, Igagasi, Mampudi and Adinala.

Moropoli said they select schools from nearby communities that support the shop.

He said they were supposed to hold the event last year but were disrupted not only by the pandemic but by the July unrest. He said customers can return as they are open for business.
