Law enforcement and GDoH honoured

'I never thought the regulations of masks would be lifted around this time.'

Acts of Faith Harvesters (AoFH) honoured Vosloorus SAPS, EMPD, Boksburg Correctional Services and Gauteng Department of Health (GDoH) officials with certificates of recognition for taking the frontline to protect the nation during the Covid-19 pandemic.

This was conducted on August 8 during a three day thanksgiving conference held at AoFH, located at 3068 Sefelo Road, Ext 1, Vosloorus.

Leader of AoFH Apostle Emmanuel Dladla said the event was held to give thanks to God for protection throughout the pandemic. He said they dedicated the day to essential workers who faced the invisible enemy while many were somewhat protected at home.

Pastors pray for police and health workers during the conference.

“We came out of Covid which was a very difficult thing. I never thought the regulations of masks would be lifted around this time.

“When they announced that the infection rates were low, I thought we should host this event and thank God, also thanking the essential workers who kept us safe while they were exposed,” said Dladla.

Recipients of certificates included the station commander of Vosloorus SAPS, Brigadier Ntombizini Thethe, chief of the metro police Jabu Mabiyeye, Boksburg Correctional Services communication officer Sello Modise and Ntombi Jele of DoH.

Speakers took turns expressing challenges they encounter during their line of work and encouraged the community to partner and play their role. Mwabiyeye said law enforcers and the community don’t know the value we carry in the country.

“But what they did today, they made a mark in our hearts and it will filter down do our officers and the community. The community must understand that police are also human.

“We need the support of the community and they showed us that they appreciate us,” said Mabiyeye.

Modise said the most significant challenge for the correctional services was the release criminals from jail because of the various required social distancing to minimize the spread.

He said they were conflicted because the community complained when criminals had to be released and if they are not released they are also scrutinized and accused of trying to kill people.
