Zibeleni commemorates Youth Day

“We are here to impact the lives of the less fortunate those who are sidelined to show and to give them love and let them know that they are loved.”

Sakhimonde NPO and Ezibeleni School for Physically Disabled commemorated Freedom Day by telling stories through performances.

The event was held at ZSPD on June 15.

Teachers ironed and dressed up in their school uniforms while learners enjoyed the show in their pyjamas.

The school principal Thabang Dakata said the event was a beautiful experience because most of the time teachers are the ones telling the history of June 16, however, this year children are doing the presentation.

She said the load was not only on teachers as stakeholders also assisted including former students, Sakhimonde NPO, and McDonald’s.

“Children prepared a chart with photographs of June 16 they told stories and recited poems. The chart had various people who took part and made a difference on June 16. The staff also organised a choir performance,” said Dakata.

The founder of Sakhimonde, Nomonde Nsibande, said the event is all about the youth and celebrating the lives of those who fought for black South Africans to study in their language.

“We are here to impact the lives of the less fortunate,” said Nsibande.

McDonald’s spoiled learners with lunch and toys.
