Local appeals for monetary assistance amid job creation
Divine Connections founder, Etienne Prince, requests assistance to purchase heavy-duty machinery in his effort to curb the scourge of unemployment.
Etienne Prince locally celebrated for lending a helping hand to those in need, decided to fully focus on changing lives through the birth of Divine Connections back in 2021.
The Eden Park resident’s NPO manufactures handmade shoes and through this, Prince said not only is he creating employment but also contributing to the local economy.
Since its inception, Divine Connections has thrived to develop and provide a free skills trade to individuals.
Prince explained that not only do they sell the shoes at a lower price, but some tekkies and children’s shoes are donated to those in need.
However, their services have since come to a halt since the machine used in the production of the shoes, broke down.
“We need to buy a new manufacturing machine for the cutting of the leather, stitching and the sewing since the smaller one broke down. We now have a bigger need to supply more community members who are in need,” Prince said.
The heavy-duty machine will be used to manufacture of both flat shoes and high heels.
Prince said their efforts will not reach their effectiveness unless they have the community’s backing.
“To help us reach our goal of purchasing a new leather manufacturing machine, we will need to collect an amount of R30 000. We appeal to the community to donate whatever they can afford. The heavy-duty machinery will assist us to reach out to more beneficiaries,” he explained.
He said this will also assist him in paying staff members and volunteers for their hard work.
