Vosloorus SAPS together with other law enforcement agencies arrested 16 suspects for various crimes during the Ekurhuleni Sub-East District parade conducted by different stations at Chris Hani Mall, Vosloorus, on April 16.
The operation was led by Vosloorus station commander Brig Ntombizini Lenah Thethe during the rainy weekend. It focused on visible community policing, drugs, drunk driving, and liquor compliance enforcement.
According to Vosloorus SAPS communication officer Cst Nompumelelo Nhlapo, the high-density operation led to the arrest of six suspects for the possession of drugs and four suspects for dealing in liquor without a valid license.
Six suspects were arrested for driving motor vehicles under the influence of alcohol.
Nhlapo said at least fifteen plastic wraps containing nyaope were seized and more than 20 000 ml of alcohol confiscated.
Thethe encouraged the community of Vosloorus to supply more crime-related information to the police.
All the arrested suspects will appear in Vosloorus Magistrate court.
