Defence advocate wants Kelly Khumalo arrested for perjury

This move, according to legal experts, has thrown the cats among the pigeons and casts doubts about the case ever seeing the light of day in court.

The five suspects paraded before the courts as the killers of former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa have made a dramatic turnaround and approached the Meyiwa family to represent them in their case.

A cousin of one of the accused started the move to approach the Meyiwa family’s legal representation to represent their son in the Senzo murder case.

And now it looks like the other four accused have also asked the same advocate, Malesela Teffo, to be their legal representative.

This move, according to legal experts, has thrown the cats among the pigeons and casts doubts about the case ever seeing the light of day in court.

On the other hand, Teffo, a former cop and detective-turned legal expert, has already mapped his investigations into the Meyiwa murder. His findings are far removed from the narrative presented in court by the police.

According to Teffo, the five accused must be immediately released, as he claims they are not the suspects responsible for Senzo’s murder, as they were not seen on the night when the killing took place at Kelly Khumalo’s home seven years ago. He wants the case to be re-opened and all the people who were present on the night Senzo was murdered to be arrested and charged with perjury.

Teffo has also submitted representations to the State for the discontinuation of the trial. He wants the court to focus on a case against Khumalo and all those who were present on that night.

This emerged during an inquiry at the High Court in Pretoria recently, which would have confirmed the accused’s legal representatives.

Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Ncube and Mthokoziseni Ziphozonke Maphisa each confirmed to the judge they have ended the services of their previous legal representatives.

All the accused are now jointly represented by Teffo, while the fifth suspect, Fisokuhle Ntuli, is represented by his lawyer.
