Gudlhuza FC wins 2021 KALFA league with two divisions
The champion's coach, Themba Gudlhuza, said their plan was to learn because it was their first year playing in the KALFA league.
Even after losing their last game of the season, Gudlhuza FC were crowned champions of the u-17 Katlehong Local League Association (KALFA).
This follows all teams concluding their final games for the 2021 KALFA league season.
Gudlhuza FC finished its campaign with a 2-1 loss against Amatrompies. They were fortunate as the league competitor’s Young Boys FC lost their last game against Triple S.
The u-17 champions claimed the league with a difference of two points from Young Boys and five points from Triple S.
The Tsietsi-based team was competing in the KALFA league for the first time last season. In their first entry, Gudlhuza FC dominated the junior league.
They received the first prizes with the u-17 division, which included a trophy, new kit, gold medals and R2 250 cash prize. They were followed by the u-15 with a trophy, gold medals and a new kit, while the u-13 secured the third position, winning silver medals.
The champion’s coach, Themba Gudlhuza, said their plan was to learn because it was their first year playing in the KALFA.
“As the league progressed, we realised we could win it. We were beating almost everyone in all the divisions, including the u-13, u-15, and u-17. We aimed for the top spot midway in the season,” said Gudlhuza.
He said the team’s expectation for the next season is to play in the super league.
“We have already paid the affiliation fee. We are not expecting much but for our boys to continue playing league football. We don’t want them to go play gambling football,” he said.
Gudlhuza said the team will join the Eden Park Local Football Association this year.
