New members sworn into mayoral committee

"A strengthened coalition will promote political stability in the City.”

Mayor Tania Campbell on Monday welcomed the new MMC during a swearing-in ceremony at the OR Tambo Government Precinct in Germiston.

The MMCs took their oaths of office in the presence of the chief magistrate.

The appointment takes place after the multi-party coalition signed a new agreement to bring the PA into the formation.

The introduction of the PA reinforces the coalition’s commitment to building a stable service delivery-oriented government that will serve the needs of the residents of Ekurhuleni.

The following changes have been made to the committee to accommodate the new formation:

• Clr Bakang Lethoko will take over as MMC for Health and Social Development from Clr Charlotte Zitha.

• Clr Dino Peterson will take over as MMC for Human Settlements from Clr Mabekenyane Thamahane.

“We are delighted to welcome the new members. The addition of the PA into the coalition reaffirms our commitment to introducing a new era of clean governance and service delivery excellence,” said Campbell.

“I wish to thank both Zitha and Thamahane for their selfless contribution and devotion to making the City of Ekurhuleni work. A strengthened coalition will promote political stability in the City.”
