Vosloorus stakeholders conduct a school safety programme

The purpose of the visit was to educate the learners about school safety and sensitise them to social-related issues.

Vosloorus SAPS and various stakeholders visited Vosloorus-based Nageng Primary School on February 10.

The purpose of the visit was to educate the learners about school safety and sensitise them to social-related issues, such as the use of drugs and alcohol and bullying at school.

The stakeholders included Vosloorus SAPS Social Crime Prevention Unit’s Const Nqobile Mthimunye, communications officer Const Nompumelelo Nhlapo, Boksburg Correctional Services communications officer Warden Capt Sello Modise, GBV brigades, Ekupholeni Organisation’s social worker Shai, Skhosana from Ithemba Community Organisation and keep a Girl Child in School Organisation represented by Sfiso.

The learners eagerly took part and committed to focusing on their studies.

Modise touched on discipline and the procedure to be followed when a minor is in conflict with the law.
Shai also talked about teenage pregnancy and where to report should they be in any form of abuse and or challenges.

Mthimunye talked about discipline, how a learner should carry themselves and respect their educators.
The principal of Nageng Primary School, Ephraim Monobe, thanked the police and the other stakeholders for coming to the school and sensitising the learners.

Acting station commander Col Solly Phago, said education is the most powerful weapon that you can use to change the world.
