Katlehong North CPF patrollers need reflectors

"We are appealing to all business people around our policing precinct to come to the police station and provide us with reflector jackets.”

Despite the great success of the recruitment process of the new CPF patrollers, Katlehong North CPF is challenged by the provision of reflectors for patrollers who work formidably to protect the community.

The CPF is appealing to the community and local businesses around the station’s policing precinct to donate reflector jackets for recruits.

Katlehong North CPF chairperson Otto Sebeko said the recruitment process is going very well, but they lack gear for the patrollers.

According to Sebeko, the CPF has recruited 180 new patrollers who are receiving training to prepare them for the field and serving the community.

Sebeko said: “All those who are training are getting the first induction workshop to teach patrollers what is expected from them.”

He said the workshop is meant to teach them the do’s and don’ts in their field of work.

“We also provide physical training, which is conducted by Sgt Mxolo here at the station. Training provided by the department is also conducted at the police station,” he said.

Sebeko explained the contracts for patrollers deployed at schools will expire on March 31, hence they are preparing new deploys to start on April 1.

“We take people who have joined here with all required documents and who have been training with us, not people who are roaming around and calling themselves CPF patrollers,” he said.

Sebeko said they train on Tuesday and Wednesday at 09:00, and on other days they help the police with stop-and-search operations.

“We are appealing to all business people around our policing precinct to come to the police station and provide us with reflector jackets.

“We are not saying give us money. We are asking you to assist us by buying reflectors because these people patrol even at night. They need to be visible. They are protecting your business, your supermarket, shops, bottle stores every day,” said Sebeko.
