Teffo has been the legal representative of the bereaved and traumatised Meyiwa family of the slain former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa for some time since October 2020.

We all know, or rather we think we know, how Senzo was gunned down inside the home of his girlfriend and singer Kelly Khumalo in Mzamo Acres in Vosloorus on October 24, 2014.

Since then a variety of theories of what happened inside Kelly’s mother’s house on that night have been presented to the public via the media and by sources within the investigating teams involved in this case.

The case has been under investigation now for seven years and despite rumours and promises of imminent arrests of a person or persons involved in Senzo’s murder, nothing serious has come out of the probe and no arrests have been made, until of course recently.

Five men were presented at the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court and paraded as suspects in Senzo’s murder. During their appearance in court, the five have vehemently denied any link with the killing of Meyiwa.

And now in a dramatic turn of events, all five men have solicited the legal assistance of the same man who has been approached by the Meyiwa family to represent their case.

According to Teffo, all five suspects are now speaking in a single voice with the Meyiwa family. They reject their arrests and claims of involvement in the murder of Senzo.

In a dramatic turn of events, the Meyiwa family have also refused to link the five to the death of Senzo. Sifiso, the young brother of the deceased soccer star, denounced the police’s claim that the five were behind Senzo’s death.
Sifiso pleaded with the police to arrest the person responsible for Senzo’s death.

“You know who killed Senzo. Why are you not making any arrests?” lamented Sifiso, decrying the lack of action by the police in bringing Senzo’s killer to book.

There is now hope that the justice that the Meyiwa family has seemingly been denied will be forthcoming.

It is now up to Advocate Shamila Batohi, the head of the NPA, to respond speedily to Teffos’s request that one of the investigating team is granted the right to bring the Senzo Meyiwa case to court for trial as soon as possible.
