Christmas for four-legged friends
Law enforcement hands out dog food and educates pet owners.
Members of the Brackendowns SAPS, Vispol, SCP and sector managers teamed up with the Animal Protection Network (APN) to distribute food parcels to the residents of Thinasonke informal settlement.
“A man’s best friend is not forgotten as part of the awareness effort,” explained WO Gerhard Cornelius from Brackendowns SAPS.
When the team arrived, it was greeted with grateful hearts and wagging tails.
“We also spoke to residents about animal abuse and that they should take away their furry companions during this festive season, especially when fireworks and the likes are abused, as well as prevention of animals having more pups where owners cannot take care of extra litters,” he said.
“We are the voice of the voiceless and shouldn’t forget those who can’t speak for themselves.”
