Ekurhuleni health district appreciated

Ekurhuleni health district received service excellence certificates of appreciation and trophies after obtaining 100% ideal clinics status for the 2021 Quality Assurance (QA).

The QA awareness event was hosted by the Ekurhuleni health district in the Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital auditorium on November 26.

The awareness event forms part of recognising November as the international Month for QA Awareness.

Accolades were awarded to all Ekurhuleni health establishments, as well as quality improvement patient safety projects.

The purpose of the event was to sensitise and inform all the healthcare practitioners, community and all stakeholders about what QA entails and to address the six ministerial priority areas namely, attitude, patient and staff safety, infection prevention and control, waiting times, availability of medicines and cleanliness.

Guests who attended the Quality Assurance Awareness at Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital auditorium on November 26.

According to Beatrice Peloagae, the Ekurhuleni health district QA manager and acting director, the QA programme is cut across all programmes, including areas of infection prevention and control, waste management, occupational health and safety and risk, key ministerial priorities-norms and standards, ideal clinic and hospital realization model, wellness and health promotion.

Peloage said they will maintain the standard of their clinics status, audited by the national health district.

“I am proud of my team. We worked very hard, and we obtained 100% across the entire Gauteng province during the pandemic,” said Peloage.

She said quality does not come from inspections about the improvement of the production process.

“No candle loses light while lighting another candle. Never stop sharing, caring and helping others because it makes our lives more meaningful,” said Peloage, who shared her message of hope with health workers.
Peloage encouraged healthcare practitioners to get vaccinated.

• Thelle Mogoerane Hospital and J Dumane CHC were each awarded floating trophies for the clean hands save lives programme

• Office of the health standards and compliance

• Andries Raditsela Clinic, Calcot Dhlephu Clinic, Palmridge Clinic, Duduza Clinic and Tsakani Clinic each received a trophy.
