WATCH: Football development school launched in Vosloorus

The school has partnered with former professional players from football clubs like Mamelodi Sundowns, Moroka Swallows and the u-23 national team.

Former Bafana Bafana u-23, Thembisa Classic and Dybanamos player from Vosloorus Tebogo Sehlalo (44) launched Razz Matazz Football Development School (RMFDS) at Vosloorus Stadium on October 2.

The school will be enrolling both boys and girls between the ages of six to 11 and they are looking to enrol at least 60 children.

The school will offer football fundamentals, swimming, teaching life skills and social responsibility, and helping the learners with school subjects.

“We started the school to bridge the gap between academics and grassroots football in our community,” said Sehlalo.

“Many parents have gone to pay far more than what their children get and for the longest time I have been researching, I found that a few are legit while others are not. I have committed myself to give the best for our children,” he said.

“I coached women’s football and once owned a club that was a gem to watch in Kathorus. I have vast experience in grooming and life coaching,” he said.

Goma Sebanyoni is one of the parents who registered for his son Nkanyesi Sebanyoni (7) to join the school. He said it is a great initiative that will give children knowledge about soccer from a young age.

“I think it will prepare him well for the future if he chooses to take soccer as his career. He will learn the basics very early and work on aspects that the child lacks,” said Sebanyoni.

“The problem with parents is that they want to start supporting their children late at the age of 12, so I think starting from six years will give them a better chance to compete against their peers,” he said.
