Vosloorus woman sentenced to three years for possession of looted goods

Theresa will serve her three-year sentence at Sun City Prison in the South of Johannesburg.

A 28-year-old woman from Nguni Hostel in Vosloorus was recently sentenced to three years in prison for possession of stolen goods obtained during the recent unrest.

Clara Theresa was arrested for possession of suspected stolen goods by metro police officers on July 16.

According to Det Const Nthabeleng Selepe of Vosloorus SAPS, Theresa was found with stolen goods inside her room, which she failed to account for.

“The goods were seized and destroyed, as it was mostly perishable goods.”

She appeared in court three times before being sentenced by the Vosloorus Magistrate’s Court on August 28.

Theresa will serve her three-year sentence at Sun City Prison in the South of Johannesburg.
