Local applauds Eden Park’s athlete for qualifying for Olympics

An Eden Park resident has congratulated student-athlete Cheswill Johnson for his milestone achievement of competing in Tokyo Olympics.

You might not be bringing home a medal this time, you hero of Eden Park, but you have already brought home so much more than that.

Cheswill Johnson, you have already won something much more important than a medal, you earned a whole Kasi’s respect.

You brought home the unmistakable feeling of pride on the streets of Eden Park like few people ever could.

You brought together different folks, became the buzzword in our now-also-famous neighbourhood.

You might not have leapt in the Olympic history books just yet, but already you are bringing together people who otherwise would not have met.

This is no small feat by someone as young and alive as yourself for history has shown us few can lay claim to such an achievement, some only long after their death.

Athlete Cheswill Johnson during an interview with the RECORD.

Thank you for allowing yourself to become a beacon of hope in the most needed of times.

Thank you for giving us a positive escape from the gloomy pandemic, more bad news and more violent crimes.
To say that I am proud would be a gross understatement.

To say that I will continue to wish you well are my sincere commitment.

To the other dreamers, I encourage you with these words of encouragement: Keep jumping until you reach your dreams, don’t let dreams die in potential’s basement!
