Join the 947 Ride Joburg 2021

Calling cyclists who are up for the challenge.

The 947 Ride Joburg event scheduled for November 21 is a favourite on the calendar at Stepping Stone Hospice & Care Services.

It is a cause of great excitement among staff members and patients every year, and it is an event that makes a significant difference in the resources they can secure to look after those in our care.

If you are a keen cyclist or just looking for a way to do your bit and have not signed up yet, why not consider doing so and riding for a purpose.

If you’re unable to join the 947 Ride Joburg event why not create your event, from wherever you are in the world!

One of Stepping Stone Hospice’s most loyal supporters, Tim Kiy, with his wife, Pippa, have committed to riding 94.7 km from their home near Cork, Ireland, on the day of the event to help raise funds for Stepping Stone Hospice.

Tim completed several 947 cycling events while working in South Africa, and he has been instrumental in Stepping Stone Hospice fund-raising efforts.

Another fun event to consider, and one which Stepping Stone is part of, is the Thaba Eco-Challenge on September 11 at Thaba Trails.

It s a family fun charity event that will no doubt soon also become an annual highlight.

The event will include an MTB and trail relay run/walk, so there is something to do for every member of the family. More details are available on Thaba Eco Challenge

Tersia Burger, Stepping Stone Hospice and Care Centre CEO with Tim Kiy. Tim and his wife Pipa will be riding the 947 race in Ireland this year.

“We know, perhaps more so than many, that it is not often easy to get out of the feathers and face the day. The past year and more has taken its toll on all of us,” said Judy Joubert on behalf of Stepping Stone Hospice.

“At Stepping Stone Hospice, our ability to raise funding through events has been severely constrained and we have not been able to retain the resources necessary to provide the care that is needed.

“Your decision to ride for a purpose will mean more to us than you know.”
