Bishop Makamu’s sexual assault case continues

Bishop Israel Makamu’s sexual assault case to be heard on August 17 following further investigations.

The NPA has confirmed that Bishop Israel Makamu’s matter has been remanded to August 17.

This according to Phindi Mjonondwane of the NPA will allow for further investigations and consultations with the victim in the case.

Makamu, from Endless Hope Bible Church in Alrode South, faces charges of sexual assault.

The bishop, who is also a television presenter, was arrested on May 26 after a former employee of his church laid a complaint of sexual assault on May 19 at Brackendowns SAPS.

He was also granted R2 000 bail after appearing in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on May 26.
