Home Sweet Home (HSH) Daycare and Orphanage received a generous donation while they celebrated the birthday of the Moatlhudi sisters at Marimba section, Vosloorus, on June 12.
Kathorus BMW Club followed through with their promise as they blessed the HSH orphanage with a donation of toiletries, groceries and sanitary pads among other things.
The donation follows after the orphanage sent a list of the beneficiaries’ day-to-day needs.
The founder and director of the orphanage, Winnie Magabane, expressed her gratitude to the club.
“They assisted us last year and made a promise to return,” said Magabane.
“The club went the extra mile as they bought additional items on the list we submitted. I’m very happy because these are all the things we need, especially sanitary towels for our girls.
“They even included things we were not expecting.”
The orphanage was initiated 30 years ago.
“I started the organisation because I realised that a lot of children are struggling once they become orphans. When people visit us, they are unable to see that these children are orphans because we ensure that they are clean and beautiful,” said Magabane.
The founder of the club, Sphiwe Mdaka, held a moment of silence in respect of Libby Kodisang who passed on.
Although the club is still mourning the passing of one of its members, they were happy to take time off and spend the day with the children.
“Many people confuse our organisation for spinning cars, but it was formed to focus on charity work and to have a positive impact in communities. It doesn’t matter if you drive a different car brand, you can still be part and contribute positively to people’s lives,” said Mdaka.
Cake was the order of the day as two youngsters, Mpho (3) and her sister Masego Moatlhudi (6) celebrated their birthday.
The club promised to visit the orphanage again in 2022.
