How can your football club participate in the KLFA League?

To join the league, clubs have to take part in monthly meetings.

Kathorus MAIL had a chat with the Katlehong Local Football Association (KLFA ) chairperson Bassie Makhalima (57) and deputy chairperson Themba Madinani (43) to break down the requirements for joining the league.

The KLFA officials explained that the purpose of the association is to support and promote local football while creating opportunities for players and coaches to advance their career.

Makhalima, who is a former player of Germiston Zebras, said he started playing in the KLFA league before they changed its name.

The league was previously known as Germiston and District Football Association.

“I started as an executive in 1999 but that journey ended because of lack of funds,” said Makhalima.

“That is when they initiated KLFA and I was appointed as the chairperson. I love football and I have been in this environment for years,” he said.

The chairperson said the establishment of local football is important to develop players from the ground level.
The players start in the u-11 junior level and as they grow, they move to other divisions like u-13, u-15, and u-17 until they make it to the Super League.
