Youngsters establish coaching platform for models

“Our biggest achievement was when we mentored Tim Vumani, one of our models who won Mr East Rand and Mr Personality in May.”

Inspired by the success of one of the local beauty pageants in Vosloorus, two young people initiated Private Runway Coaching (PRC) to help aspiring models.

PRC was established at Vosloorus Extension Eight in July 2019 by Dan Halale (21) and Karabo Rankapole (21) to help models develop and improve their signature walks, among other things.

The initiative does not only focus on coaching but also to assist individuals to boost their confidence, self-love and discipline.

“We are passionate about sharing our knowledge and seeking to see models unlock skills that already exist in them. This personalised coaching is designed to help models,” said Halale.

“We started our modelling agency after we realised that a lot of young candidates have talents but they don’t have opportunities nor ways to showcase them. We hope to help them become the best versions of themselves,” he said.

Halale is a freelance actor, TV presenter and model. He featured on SABC 1’s YOTV and Blue Couch as a guest presenter.

His partner Rankapole is a choreographer and a member of Horizon Mentorship. She is currently studying BA in humanities, majoring in linguistics at the University of Johannesburg.

PRC has coached Mr and Miss Vosloorus Exclusive models as well as Mr and Miss East Rand.

“Our biggest achievement was when we mentored Tim Vumani, one of our models who won Mr East Rand and Mr Personality in May,” said Halale.

The pair was also confronted with many challenges.

“We don’t have a venue for hosting our meeting and rehearsals. We depend on Hawaii 511, but it is also a hustle since it is a busy place. We would appreciate any donation or assistance, whether a container, room or hall,” he said.

They assist their contestants with training in heels, discipline, model training, posture, motivation and gentleman training.

They also offer fitness, photoshoots, runway rehearsals, pageants mentoring and other paid-for services.

Aspiring models who want to join PRC must send five pictures of themselves, including their names, ages and a motivational letter.
