Help needed to revamp Katlehong Resource Centre

The centre needs maintenance.

The newly appointed manager of the Katlehong Resource Centre (KRC) Moogo Sebuse hopes to revive the facility to be of use again to the community.

Sebuse said the centre needs urgent maintenance, citing that thieves stole cables and damaged plumbing infrastructure during the hard lockdown.

Moogo Sebuse (36) invites community members with programs to visit the centre.

“There is a need for a fresh look because the people in the community still need to use the facility,” she added.

“We need all the help we can get. We need to replace the old paint in the offices and the wall fence, and we also need to replace the old doors for security purposes,” said Sebuse.

She said the public need to know that KRC is an NPO and it has been providing services that benefit the community for three decades.

Such services include providing maths and science extra classes, along with skills development.
Sebuse said the centre almost shut down because of the mismanagement of funds.

She once worked at the centre years ago before leaving, only to be called back.

“At first I hesitated, but I knew that I can do it because I have experience working at the centre,” she explained.

“I am also from Ramokonopi. I love this centre, and I was hurt seeing the youth sitting at home with nothing to do.

“We have started a farming project and we plan to run a soup kitchen with vegetables from the garden. The soup kitchen will benefit orphans and senior citizens who visit the clinic near the centre.”

The centre pleads for sponsorship, including a donation of paint and farming equipment as well as seeds.

She said they would appreciate a donation of science lab equipment as the lab is used by 15 learners in Katlehong.
