Katlehong SAPS holds public meeting with community

The community committed themselves to join patrols to participate in a neighbourhood watch in their sector policing area.

Katlehong North SAPS and CPF held a meeting with the residents of Goba Section, Katlehong, at Khumalo Primary School on May 11.

The community and officials, including the sector manager, Sgt Thabiso Mashashane, CPF chairperson Otto Sebeko and Sector Three executive committee members, met to discuss and address the increasing rate of crime in the area.

Katlehong North SAPS media liaison officer Capt Lesetja Mathobela said they encourage the community to participate in the CPF structure and establish street patrols.

The officials urged the youth to stay away from criminal activities and consider joining the CPF.

Mashashane urged the community to report any criminal activities taking place in their respective sections or sectors.

He said the community must also conduct arrests but discouraged them from taking the law into their own hands in the form of mob justice.

“Avoid walking around when under the influence of liquor to avoid falling victim to crime, road accidents and even death,” said Mashashane.
