WATCH: Your health is your wealth -Fitness trainer

Professional fitness trainer offers free sessions for residents in different locations.

The founder and fitness instructor of Uthingo Healthy Lifestyle (UHL), Patricia Njiva, continues to encourage and educate communities about living a healthy lifestyle after five years of establishing UHL.

She offers free training sessions, healthy eating and training tips to locals in and around Thokoza.

Njiva was born in Soweto and moved to Thokoza in the ’90s. She currently resides in Thintwa Section.

She describes herself as an avid athlete, passionate about a healthy lifestyle, spinning, road running, aerobics and boot camps.

“I’m also a qualified indoor cycling instructor and fitness instructor at Cycle Pro Academy & Fitness Fort in Bryanston. I always juggle being a businesswoman, administering and ensuring the growth of Uthingo Healthy Lifestyle,” said Njiva.

Although she is a full-time employee, a mother of three girls and a partner, she continues to conduct online training after hours.

She said she started UHL while she was still living in Cosmo Creek when several community members requested her to train them. This is after they witnessed her passion for road running and facilitating fitness sessions on Fun Day events, which are held annually.

“I moved to the East Rand and continued with the training sessions, but currently, we do quarterly sessions in different locations like car wash and shisanyamas,” said Njiva.

UHL is a fitness and wellness solution organisation that aims to contribute positively to communities by helping residents stay healthy through outdoor group training sessions and roadshows.

Njiva told Kathorus MAIL that the organisation’s philosophy is to consistently deliver excellent services while making training a fun way to engage and socialise with others.

“The organisation was officially registered in 2017, and our focus is outdoor training, boot camps, wellness awareness and brand activation. We also interact with SMMEs to showcase their brands when we hold events.

“We aim to get endorsements from big brands to enable roadshows, which will be free to the public. People who cannot afford gym need to live a healthy lifestyle and since Covid-19 is the new normal, it is important for individuals, young and old, to take care of their health,” said Njiva.

Donations

UHL needs support to continue with its free service. The public, local businesses and brands can assist with refreshments, venues and a sound system like a mobile sound truck.

The organisation needs financial endorsements to cover operational costs ranging from paying four instructors, marketing coverage and branding costs.

Future events

Njiva said so far they are trying to measure the risks with regards to the expected third wave of the Covid-19; however, they will resume winter boot camps in May 2021.
