Law-enforcement agencies join hands to squeeze out crime in Vosloorus

The operation was a huge success in preventing crime and resulted in successful seizures and arrests.

On March 18, the Vosloorus SAPS, under the command of station commander Brig Themba Denge, conducted Operation Okae Molao in Vosloorus at around 5pm.

The operation was supported by other law-enforcement agencies and CPF community patrollers.

The deputy media liaison officer of Vosloorus SAPS, Const Nompumelelo Nhlapo, said police conducted roadblocks and vehicle control points (VCP). Police went inspected for compliance at liquor outlets and second-hand goods dealers, she added.

Stop-and-search actions

The operation was a huge success in preventing crime and resulted in successful seizures and arrests.

Police arrested one suspect for the possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and dagga. One suspect was arrested for the possession of suspected drugs and another one for dealing in dagga. While two other suspects were taken in for selling liquor without a licence.

Nine fines valued at R13 500 were issued by the SAPS and at least 27 traffic fines valued at R10 900 were issued to traffic law offenders.

Seizures

Seven packets of dagga, one firearm without a serial number, one magazine with seven live rounds, 600 packets of suspected nyaope, 66 suspected Mandrax tablets, 151 packets of dagga, 250 suspected rocks and liquor were seized.

The Ekurhuleni district commissioner, Maj-Gen Vincent Leshabane, accompanied by Maj-Gen Anna Mateisi and representatives from the Department of Safety and Security and other law-enforcement agencies, joined the operation.

“Myself and Mateisi are proud of this multi-joint operation of the EMPD, Gauteng Traffic Police, Home Affairs, VCIU and CPF. We thank the public for giving us more information about crime,” said Leshabane.

The arrested suspects will appear in the magistrate’s courts soon.
