Heidelberg accident claims biker’s life

A case of culpable homicide has been registered with Heidelberg SAPS following a collision between a motorbike and a vehicle.

A 19-year-old male lost his life during a collision at the corner of Bindon and AG Visser streets near the railway line bridge in Rensburg, Heidelberg, on March 14.

The police statement alleged the motorcyclist was travelling along AG Visser Street from Rensburg Engen Garage towards Heidelberg Prison, while the driver of the grey Kia sedan was coming from the opposite direction.

As the vehicles moved towards Bindon Street, both drivers turned in the same direction and collided.

Heidelberg SAPS media liaison officer Thivhulawi Tshilate said the motorcyclist was certified dead on the scene.

The vehicle driver survived the accident unhurt but was treated for shock by Gauteng Emergency Medical Services.

Tshilate told Kathorus MAIL a case of culpable homicide has been registered with Heidelberg SAPS for further investigation.
