Arrests made during Operation Okae Molao

Police also inspected tuck shops to monitor compliances. Illicit products sold in various shops were seized.

On March 11, Operation Okae Molao led to the arrest of 10 suspects for various crimes.

Illicit products in the Heidelberg and Ratanda policing area were also seized.

Heidelberg SAPS media liaison officer Capt Thivhulawi Tshilate told Kathorus MAIL police arrested three suspects for possession of dagga, one suspect was arrested for possession of drugs, and four suspects were arrested for illegal immigration, while two other suspects were arrested for bribery.

Police also inspected tuck shops to monitor compliances. Illicit products sold in various shops were seized.
“A total of 920 illicit cigarettes were seized, two summons valued at R2 000 issued to scrap metal dealers for non-compliance, 54 tons of illicit Kiwi polish and 122 illicit medication creams were seized by the police.

“Traffic fines valued at R6 200 were issued to motorists for violations of the National Road Traffic Regulations,” said Tshilate.

He said the police also searched 11 167 and 508 people during the roadblock, three gambling machines were also seized.

The arrested suspects will appear in the Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court soon.
