Fake police again stopping cars on R59 highway and Kliprivier Drive

Be on high alert while travelling on the R59 highway and Kliprivier Drive.

Fake police driving in unmarked vehicles with blue lights strike again on the R59.

Kliprivier CPF and Kliprivier SAPS warn motorists to travel with caution on Kliprivier Drive and the R59 highway and not to just stop for any unmarked vehicle with blue lights trying to pull you over.

There has been some reports of vehicles stopping and hijacking people.

“These suspects hijack the motorist with their vehicle before dropping the motorist off at a random place,” said Marius Steenkamp form Kliprivier CPF.

Be on high alert and should you feel something is wrong or you are being followed by a specific vehicle contact your nearest police station, security company of local CPF for assistance.

“Continue driving slowly to your nearest police station or to a busy area where it will be safer to stop,” said Steenkamp.

The RECORD contacted Kliprivier SAPS and their spokesperson, Sgt Tintswalo Ndhambi, confirmed the information.

Take note

According to WO Gerhard Cornelius, the spokesperson for Brackendowns SAPS, if you feel uncomfortable when you see blue lights behind you, you may drive to your nearest police station.

He explained that marked police vehicles always have a registration number ending in a “B”.

All marked vehicles will feature the call sign number and station or unit it is assigned to.
