Kathorus residents respond positively to adjusted level three regulations

It is compulsory for every person to wear a mask in a public space, with failure to wear a mask in public constituting a criminal offence.

On January 9, Kathorus MAIL took to the streets to observe whether community members are complying with and adhering to the strict regulations as announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa on December 28.

According to the new regulations it is compulsory for every person to wear a mask in a public space, with failure to wear a mask in public constituting a criminal offence.

Following our observations at a taxi rank, shopping centre and along the streets of Vosloorus, we found that majority of people wear their masks while going out to do their shopping and while using public transport.

Taxi marshals Freddy Mamaile and Ernest Makofane also assured the MAIL people are wearing masks and are sanitised before entering in the vehicles.

Nicodemus Hlakotsa, who was having fun with his family at Chris Hani Crossing Mall on Saturday, said it is important for all people to be responsible and wear their masks in public.

He said they will continue to wear masks as this is an effective way of protecting themselves.
