Crime policing improved during the festive season

Vosloorus SAPS reported a drop in crime during the festive holidays compared to the previous years.

Vosloorus SAPS reported that the festive season was relatively better than the previous years with regards to crime in Vosloorus.

According to Vosloorus SAPS communications officer Capt Piet Rossouw, it was not all smooth sailing for the police, as carjacking, housebreakings and business robberies were reported.

“Carjackings are ongoing. It is due to people not listening to the warnings issued in the local media and radio stations. Pamphlets and flyers were handed out with safety tips,” explained Rossouw.

“Housebreakings remains a concern because people left for holidays, and this at times serves as an open invite to criminals.

“The escalating business robberies at doctor’s consulting rooms are also of great concern. This is a serious problem as patients seeking medical attention are held up by armed robbers and stripped of their belongings and money,” said Rossouw.

Rossouw urged residents to report any crime.

“Remember that if there is a market for stolen goods then the crime can never be stopped and the buyer is as guilty as the offender,” he added.
