GALLERY: Vosloorus elderlies and disabled residents spoiled for Christmas

The event took place at Hope of Glory Church in Vosloorus Extension Eight on December 18.

Ward 47 councillor Thandi Nkosi, with the support from Vosloorus Boksburg District Taxi Association (VBDTA), spoiled the elderly and disabled people with an early Christmas lunch and exercise in a form of fun dance.

The event took place at Hope of Glory Church in Vosloorus Extension Eight on December 18.

Nkosi sourced funds to ensure that the elderly and disabled could celebrate Christmas with some cheer. An 84-year-old resident Loweza Moleko from Vosloorus expressed her gratitude for the lunch, stating that it is the thought that counts.

Moleko said she appreciates that there are still people who care about them.

Nkosi said she organised the event because of her love for the elderly and with the understanding that some people do not have anyone to share the joy of Christmas Day with.

“When they are together at least they can share stories and life encounters. It is better than just a couple of them being together.”

The chairperson of VBDTA, Bos Mbatha, explained the association uses a portion of the membership funds to reinvest in the community.

“We pride ourselves in humanity and this is not the first time we give back to the community, we do it every year,” said Mbatha.
