Dineo has her sights set on Empress SA title
Dineo Khoali made it through to the semi-finals of the Empress South Africa pageant.
The 18-year-old from Mfundo Park in Vosloorus said this year has been quite challenging.
Dineo is studying for a bachelor of speech-language pathology and audiology degree at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University in Ga-Rankuwa, Pretoria.
She said when she was informed that she had made it to the semi-finals a lot was going through her mind.
“It was a lot to handle. I had low self-esteem for quite some time but the competition exposed me to the world. Opening up to the world was a challenge because I feared judgement and criticism,” said Dineo.
“I have always been fond of modelling; however, as I grew up my dream for modelling shattered. However, Empress South Africa is a game-changer. It reignited my passion for modelling. I have always wanted to be a role model and I saw modelling as an opportunity to be one.”
She appreciates the support she has been receiving from her family, especially her brother, Mpho Khaoli.
“My brother is my biggest supporter. He even made it his duty to take me to all the events for videos and pictures and to update my social media accounts for the contest,” she said.
