Ekurhuleni Municipality’s First Response and the Anti Land Invasion Units arrested four women and a man in Palm Ridge for illegally occupying municipality houses without permission.
The female suspects were later taken to the nearby Eden Park police station where they were they were charged with damage to property and encroaching.
The EMPD was responding to a complaint from the City Of Ekurhuleni officials about four half-finished houses being broken into on the R550 road.
The newly built houses were still waiting to be allocated to their rightful owners. The illegal invaders are scheduled to appear in the Palm Ridge Court.
The EMPD will on intervals patrol and monitor the affected area, until the building project is completed and official homeowners move in.
