Resident concerned over dangerous hanging wires

“The last thing we need is for someone to be electrocuted due to the wires hanging out of the open poles. ”

I am a concerned resident of Brackenhurst who has reported the ongoing streetlight issues in Prins Albert Street and McBride Street.

I have reported this over two years ago and to date has had no reply and the problem hasn’t been fixed.

I woke up this morning to find that the cover that goes on the pole and hides the electrical connections has been stolen and the electrical box with all the meters has also been vandalised.

I am looking for the right person to contact who can help with the problem and get it fixed and get the street lights in our area working again.

Crime in the area is picking up due to it being very dark in the area at night. The last thing we need is for someone to be electrocuted due to the wires being exposed.

Comment from EMM

“The complaint has been handed to the contractor to close the pole cover. It must be noted that we have been experiencing vandalism on the network,” said Themba Gadebe, spokesperson from EMM.
