Covid-19: Community safety MMC visits hard hit Dis-Chem branch

The parties involved have resolved to close the store temporarily.

A team of law enforcement and health officials, led by the Ekurhuleni MMC for Community Safety Frans Mmoko, has arrived at Retail Park shopping centre on a visit to the Dis-Chem store and other businesses that remain operational at the centre.

The visit to deal with the enforcement of Covid-19 regulations follows news that 25 staff members in the centre on North Rand Road had tested positive for Covid-19.

The MMC has already met with Dis-Chem management and the hard hit store is now closed.

According to Mmoko, the parties involved have reached an agreement that the store be closed for at least two days, retest staff and that the entire store be deep-cleaned again.

The team also visited the close by Woolworths branch where they had a meeting with management. Woolworths, however, remains operational.

More details will follow shortly.
