Primrose police applauded the efforts of local security company CPG Armed Response after they assisted in the arrest of a suspect in Northridge Road, Sunnyridge, recently.

The 28-year-old suspect was arrested on a charge of house break-in and theft after he was allegedly found inside the Sunnyridge property.

“The homeowner told officers he received a call from his neighbour at around 9am in the morning alerting him to the incident,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“His neighbour told him he had allegedly seen the suspect walking around the yard.

“When the complainant arrived home and inspected his house he found his front gate was still locked, but his house’s door was open and his TV and electric cables were packed on the floor.

“He also found members of the security company at the house.”

Police were called to the scene and the suspect was handed over to them.

“We thank CPG Armed Response for not taking the law into their own hands and handing the suspect to the police without any injuries,” said Maome.

The suspect was detained at the Primrose Police Station.

He later appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
