While on tracing duties in the Makause informal settlement recently, the Primrose police received a call from an informant.

“The informant told police he had seen a 22-year-old man carrying a large battery to a shack,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
“Officers rushed to the shack and found the man and the battery described by the caller.”
They requested the proof of purchase for the battery, but the suspect could not provide one.

He was arrested on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property.
He was detained at the Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
