Police arrest alleged shoplifter

The Primrose police apprehend a 42-year-old suspect on a charge of shoplifting.

Primrose police arrested a 42-year-old man on a charge of shoplifting, last Monday.

The suspect was arrested at a shop in Rietfontein Road after police were called to the scene by the store’s security guard.

“The security guard claimed he had found the suspect in possession of several items from the store,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“When he was asked for proof of purchase he was unable to provide any.”

He was handed over to police and taken to the Primrose Police Station.

The suspect has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
